Child Care, Middleton Nursery, Fun, Education, Activity

Welcome to our Channings Childcare March 2019 Blog

We have had an Ofsted at Channings  Royton recently and the feedback was very positive indeed. We were awarded a Good, however the inspector wanted us to know that it was a Very Very Good!

Congratulations to all our hardworking managers and staff.  Sharon, Diane, Janine and all the staff worked very hard and should be very proud of the outcome. Congratulations team Royton.

A new online tablet system has been introduced at all our nurseries. This enables us to monitor the children’s development with more efficiency. The managers can see at a glance how the children are progressing and if there are any small concerns we need to focus on. The parents and carers are sent updates and photographs of their little ones hard at work and play.

At Channings Childcare are very proud to be part of a childcare provision that has been successfully caring for babies and children since 1989. In fact this September we will celebrate the 30th year. The emphasis is on care and always will be, however, we are always looking to improve in all aspects of the children’s fun, education and care. The children are growing and we are growing. This year will see us open our 7th nursery: Kingsway, Rochdale.

Our focus nursery today is Channings Middleton.

Channings Childcare, Middleton, is the first building we have purchased which was already a nursery. It began life as a Salvation Army Meeting Hall before it was converted into a children’s nursery many years ago. It is the baby of our family. Catherine would pass it every day taking her daughter to school, when it was a busy, happy nursery. The nursery experienced several problems before we purchased it in 2016. As often happens, there then followed a couple of years of exaggerated stories and rumours of what had taken place.  A combination of nostalgia and the need for a challenge persuaded us to buy the nursery. Our aim is to put the past to bed and bring the nursery back to life. It is our smallest nursery and opened in April 2018.

It has been completely refurbished, we have all new staff and equipment, redecorated and is now a Channings Childcare Nursery, with the same quality and ethos you would experience at any of our other nurseries. It’s just smaller!

It’s our only nursery that is all on one level and currently has two playrooms; one for babies and toddlers, one for 2 – 4 year olds.   It has a lovely outdoor space and will soon have new colourful railings like all our other nurseries. If you haven’t been to look around, you should . It is brand new and very cute. Just like the babies and children in the nursery !!

Thank you
