Channings Childcare Newhey Blog year end 2017

Channings, Childcare, Newhey, Rochdale, Oldham, Children, Toddlers, Pre-School

We’re delighted to update you in detail about our children’s nurseries around  Rochdale and Oldham.

This is the recent news from Newhey, our very first Channings.Childcare nursery in the Rochdale area.

We have introduced ‘Adventures with Friends’ and ‘Luggage Tags’. The photographs from the adventures are really excellent, thank you for taking part so enthusiastically. We have also been encouraging parents to bring things in from home to add to our areas around the rooms, for example bottles for water play and food packaging for home corners

As part of our Parent Partnership Scheme, we sent out Autumn Treasure Bags which the children filled on their trips out with their parents, with things like leaves and twigs.

Pre-school went to join the Harvest Assembly at St Thomas’s Church in October  and parents kindly donated non-perishable items which went on to help Rochdale Food Bank and Booth Centre.  We were fundraising for Children in Need by dressing up in spots and doing various spot related activities and crafts. We were celebrating Diwali; we made salt dough candle holders and cards.  We had a Halloween party which the children really enjoyed, they loved dressing up in wonderful spooky creations and playing spooky games. The children made poppies ready for Remembrance Day. They were learning about the patron of Scotland for St Andrews day, making flags and thistles.

Christmas is just around the corner and all our children (and staff) are so excited for Christmas. Newhey helped decorate the tree in Milnrow and painted pebbles. Well done everyone. The Christmas parties are happening this week and it looks like we’re having snow to get us in the mood.   We’re always loving the activities throughout the nursery including crafts, walks and trips to the park whatever the weather.

We have started new football session with Richard Tracz for children 18 months and over, split into cubs and bears classes, on a Thursday afternoon.

We have redesigned the pre-school rooms layout to enhance the learning environment and maximise the learning opportunities for the children. We have created a potting shed and cafe in the yard to promote our role playing during our outdoor play.

Story planning has further enhanced our curriculum, with all rooms focusing on a story/nursery rhyme per term as inspiration behind activities.

Pre-school created a Gruffalo’s cave which tied into their story of the term, they also went on bear hunts which the children really enjoyed.

Toddlers made a travel agents as part of their summer topic, the children explored holiday brochures, made their own passports and shared their holiday adventures.

In staff news Lucy Fowler will be leaving for maternity after Christmas, Laura left for maternity in October and we would like the welcome little Joshua into the world, Kaley left for maternity in July and we would like to welcome little Lottie into the world, Natalie Down has returned from her adventure to join the toddler room team, Lisa Pearson has moved from our sister nursery at Royton and is now part of the Pre-school team. Congratulations !

We have been very busy and would like to thank everyone who made the time so successful, fun and enjoyable. We add so many photographs on Facebook, hopefully you can enjoy them all.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas from everyone at Channings Childcare and a Happy new year

Our baby has had an amazing first week at Channings. He loves the ladies and has big smiles and lots of laughs for them...
I have just dropped Maisie off at nursery and I’m so envious of Christmas PJ day, looks like you are going to have so much fun!
My daughter is currently in the preschool room and the staff have done an amazing job helping her to settle in.
Thank you for everything you have done for our Logan. You have had such an impact on him and taught him how to sustain friendships.
To everyone at Channings, Werneth. You work so hard and are truly amazing. Thank you.
To all the staff at Channings, thankyou so much for making Caleb’s first experience of nursery so enjoyable!
